After leaving Manchester United for £1 Million as part of Sir Alex building his next generation, Sparky made his way south to play for Chelsea FC

This was a period of growth and change for Chelsea as they entered an era of success (Pre Roman Abramovich) where the London club brought in continental players such as Gianluca Vialli, Gianfranco Zola and Roberto Di Matteo – however the club still needed the traditional grit and power of the classic British striker, which Mark Hughes brought in abundance
