Description

Ahead of the release of his autobiography ‘Young Millsy’ – the youngest ever winner of the European Cup Gary Mills took part in an exclusive signing session for Superstar Speakers

Gary Mills is one of the legendary ‘miracle men’ of Nottingham Forest’s European Cup wins of 1979 and 1980.

At just 17 years and 201 days old Mills became the youngest person to ever win the European Cup, a record he still holds to this day (even including the Champions League in the Cup’s Lineage)

Simply put its another of Brian Clough’s masterstokes by giving the teenage Gary Mills a place in the team – Cloughie simply believed ‘if you are good enough, you are old enough’

In 1989 Gary Mills signed for Leicester City and stayed at Filbert St until 1994 making 232 appearances and scoring 16 goals. Mills signed for the Foxes when they were in the second division and through his guidence, skill and experience he captained the club and lead them to the Premier League in 1994.

Millsy is one of the few men who won the European Cup and played in the Premier League (a list that includes Forest Teammates Viv Anderson and Trevor Francis as well as Bruce Grobbelaar, Ian Rush, Ruud Gullit and Paulo Futre)

Mills is still involved in professional football, having only retired from active playing in 2010 at the age of 47 – 30 years after winning the European Cup with Forest.

Gary Mills recently returned to his home county of Northamptonshire to manage Corby Town Fc
